Requisite Update
I am really liking my job. I have settled in and figured most stuff out and am testing/examining my own patients before they see Dr. L. I really like both her and Fred (today she brought Hagen Daaz bars and we all stood around eating them and talking between patients. I could get used to that!). She talked with me today and told me she would like me to take over the training of patients who are new to contact lens wear. I will admit that is not my favorite thing to do, however we seem to get far fewer patients using contacts here than I did in AZ. Also, people here seem to have an easier time with them. I used to get so many "Like, ohmigawd I have to put this in my eye??" annoying teenagers in AZ. Here people just seem to know what they need to do and do it. Thank goodness. The GOOD thing about talking with Dr. L today was that she told me that she would like to train me to fit patients into contacts. As in, to decide what brands, powers, curves, adds, etc. I realize this may not sound like a big deal to most of you, but in all my years of doing this I have never worked for a doctor who turned that responsibility over to a tech (me) before. It's a big deal and a big responsibility and I was surprised and flattered that she thinks that much of me to feel comfortable turning that over to me. Next thing ya know I'll be doing refractions myself too! ;)
Evan is growing like crazy and says smart and funny things every day! I would enumerate them here but I think you just have to actually be there for most of them.
My sister left on the 16th and I miss her like crazy. We had so much fun while she was here. She and Evan became best friends (and she doesn't much care for kids, so that's saying something!) and did so much together. She loves him so much she even snipped off one of his famous curls and took it back to Oz with her! She keeps it in her wallet until she makes a scrapbook page for it.
My aunt and uncle were here from the 6th-20th and it was so nice to see them again (they live in Colorado). I hadn't seen them since 2006 when my dad and I went out there to visit them for Memorial Day weekend. And we realized we hadn't ALL been in one place together (with Kim too) since I got married 10 years ago. Crazy! My aunt and uncle had an absolute blast with Evan, and I'm so glad they finally got to meet him!

Oh El Dee
On Saturday I turned 31
Today Kim turned 26.
When and how did we get so old?? I still feel like a kid but then I see that big 3-1 when I fill out forms and stuff and I think, Damn! I'm getting OLD.
Other than getting OLD everything is good. Evan is great and has too big of a vocabulary to list here.
Dan is going to San Francisco Oct 11-15 for business. Thanksgiving is the 12th but we'll celebrate in on the 10th (Saturday) so Dan can be here with us. We celebrate U.S. Thanksgiving too since we're half American so he always has that to look forward to as well!

A Year and a Half!
Evan is officially 18 months old today! He had a check-up last week and he is...
*22 lbs, 6 oz
*2 ft, 7 inches tall
*48 cm head circumference
*Absolutely perfect!
(Ok, so the last one is mine but I'm sure the doctor wrote something similar in her chart, ha!).
He is right on the 50th percentile for height and the 25th for weight. I don't put much stock in those percentile charts (and neither do a lot of people it seems) but I love charts and graphs so it's still fun for me to see where he places.
Yesterday was the longest day of the year, so summer is officially here!
Off torelax clean a bit before the munchkin wakes up from his nap.

I'm so bad - 3 months without an update! This is most likely because Evan is walking/running and rarely holds still anymore. He says Mama, Dada, Nana and Baba (grandpa). He likes to eat with a fork or spoon like he sees the grown ups doing. And he loves my homemade chocolate chip cookies, as evidenced below. Photo taken this evening.
